A portrait of one of Canada’s greatest but uncelebrated songwriters, Island native Al Tuck. The film follows his journey of wrestling demons, of financial hardship and isolation, and is a moving depiction of a father and loving son. This is a story that offers timely questions: what does it mean to succeed as an artist, and what is art without honesty? Director Brian Harrington spent nearly a decade making this intimate portrait, weaving together Tuck's songs with reflections from those whose lives and careers he influenced. Tender, honest and deeply rooted in the Maritimes, the film is a celebration of an extraordinary songwriter whose influence has long exceeded his fame.
